My late husband and I always dreamed our first-born would be a compassionate soul. He is. Back in March, 2003, Shane was just 16 and the Iraq War had just started. Shane just turned 21, the day AFTER Virginia Tech. I refuse to send our son over there to kill another mom's son. If we don't learn from history's mistakes (Vietnam) we are destined to repeat them. I ask you, who will be the LAST one to die for a mistake?

That was very well done yet again Ava. Thanks for the tribute. As for Shanesmom, if your son is over 18, you really can't stop him from joining the military and possilby coming over here. My mother and wife are not crazy bout me being here either. If they had their way, I would not be here.

Well, Ava...George W. Bush to me is a bad man. He won't stop the war that's going on right now. What if we all get killed? The children in Iraq have been hurt.
I saw you on NickNews with Linda Ellerbee today, and right when I saw the website name, I went straight to it. Like I said, George Bush is a bad man. He makes all lives misserable.
delaney @ Wed, 30 May 2007 09:56
I think we should start a potician about how to stop war, and make everybody in America vote no matter what their age is! Then give the potician to the president. Either we get a new president or make George Bush stop sending our family members. You see all the commorcials persuading you to go in the war, but that's not right! You will die because Iraqies will catch you off guard. George W. Bush doesn't care about Iraqies!
He doesn't care if we killed an Iraqi child. Then why should he care about if one of the Iraqies killed one of us! George W. Bush is bad. I'm only nine and it doesn't matter what your age is. If you are young you still have a chance to be powerful.

dear doobert,
this site is made by a kid who thinks she can change the future. Our family members are suffering from pain. Show Ava some respect! If you think it's a joke, think if one of your family members being in the war and getting killed, you would try to stop war be 4 any other family members get killed. Is it ta joke now?

Anyone here of the Kellogg-Briand Pact of 1928? It was a treaty that renunciated the use of war as an instrument of national policy. It did not work out realy well. War pretty much stinks. I have gone to tow funerals and many more memorial services. Being separated from my family stinks also, but we are doing great things over here. I spent the last two days at the hospital and although it would break your heart, you can tell we are treating Soldiers as well as Iraqi men women and children. Don't forget who the bad guys are. Also read up on the Kellogg-Birand Pact. It did not do much in the years after 1928 (that little thing called WWII) and it would not work now.

delaney apparently you know nothing about the history of the world. there is a reason we are the best country in the world. would you rather our country stand back and do nothing about the boneheads in the middle east? no mather what your oppinion is about the war the FACT is our soldiers are saving lives and some times that means taking a few. READ ABOUT WORLD HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our last day of school was June 14th. I had a paper supporting those who are against Bush, and the war. I made tons of copies and hung them around the school. They found out it was me, and during all our last day of school projects, told everyone my opinion, and what is really going on! P.S. MAN THERE ARE A LOT OF REPUBLICANS IN MY SCHOOL!

I am french. And I see in a paper this site. A lot of french like this site. I think this site is simply a anti bush and more generaly a anti USA for french. I am 15 and maybe I am only french but Ava I think you take yourself too serious. The war in Iraq is the beggin of the story the 21century. And the pacifism isn't the true [sorry for my english]...
If you want to speak of that [yes with a little french with a english very bad] you have my e-amil!^^

Hi Ava, heard about your blog on French radio France Inter last Friday... I'm totally upset by what I can sea and hear, congratulations and please keep on doing that for our conscience...
No, Logan, this is not an anti-bush site, this is the only way to make people believe in peace, and this is the most important thing for us all, human beings. And you could congratulate instead of criticize, because you're a teenager too... Ask your grand-parents or any old people where they were 70 years ago, and you will have another view to this f... war in Iraq !! and you will understand why it is so important to support any person showing trust in peace.
Good luck, Ava, take care !!

Gwen,
I must be reading what you are saying incorrectly. You talk about how "messed up" war is and then you reference WWII. The aftermath of WWII was roughly 20 million dead. How many more dead would there have been without U.S. involvement? Campassion is a wonderful thing, but when it distorts reality, that is a bad thing
