A good friend of mine recently wrote me about a new blog from her home state of Mississippi. I'm a fan of any Southern blogs because they tend to go against the typical stereotype of all Southerners being "stupid rednecks." I come from Alabama to so I know how it feels to be called a stupid redneck. It can hurt bad because we are just like anybody else, we just talk different!!!

Thanks for bringing up about southern bloggers. I am another Alabamian and thanks to you and the cottonmouthblog maybe people can see that there are other people in the south who can think on our own, are intelligent and are not the trailer trash they think we are.
Just because we live in red states doesn't automatically make us ALL red.

Hi Ava,
My name is Julissa Wilson and i live in NY now although, i was born and raised in the South. I have to say that i applaud you for putting your ideas out there however,...i disagree with your views. You see, the reason i live in NY is because my mother is in the military and now teaches at the United States Military Academy; West Point. My father was in the Airforce Reserves and was deployed twice. I personally think that we should be in Iraq. I have believed this since Bush put us there. Quick Question...have your parents or any immediate member of your family been to the Middle East?? Well Ava....my father has and my mother will probably go after i graduate from High School. I know you probably think im crazy but take a second to look at where im coming from. I grew up knowing that my mother was a soldier. The job of a US soldier is to protect this country, to uphold the constitution. Have you ever read the pledge they say when soldiers join the military? If not, you should.
Thankyou for your time...and i would like to speak with you because i am open to hearing why you feel so strongly as to create such a website.
