We must stand up against this madman and tell him NO MORE DEATHS!! I've been on the phone and e-mailing everyone I can think of in Congress. We can do it if we just speak up.

How soon we Forget!! We just have fictional speeches on aircraft carriers saying "Mission Accomplished!'. I can't belive this guy said this with a straight face.
ydd @ Wed, 17 January 2007 09:28
I heard a newly elected democrat say recently that we could do nothing about the sending of more troops to Iraq. She continued "The American People should of thought of that when they elected George Bush...Twice!!!". God help us.
Lynn @ Tue, 23 January 2007 11:43
I would like to know what you think about the proposal to send a force of real peace makers to Iraq? How do you think this would best be supported...through the United Nations or interested NGO's? People such as Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela, Thich Nhat Hanh, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Dr. Marshall Rosenberg all promote nonviolent communication and healing through compassionate listening rather than negotiation and compromise which is usually short-lived.

this blog reminds me of when my father ,(a former marine) and i were talking about the war in Iraq at the dinner table. We were discussing how we have been i nIraq for a while now, and we are in Iraq longer than other major wars, like when we were in Vietnam.

I'm a 77 year-old engineer who came across your wonderful site by accident. You are a very brave and literate young lady who deserves better than some of the silly outbursts shown above. Please be assured that you have a huge amount of support from a growing segment of the public which, despite the inconvenience, finds ways by which it can learn the truth. Please don't be discouraged by some of the thoughtless comments you receive. Peace takes intellect as well as courage, and you clearly have an abundance of both.
Anita @ Thu, 01 March 2007 02:59
I'm so proud of you dear Ava, I don't even know what to do.

I hold responsible every individual who voted for President Bush and his party, directly or with their silence for the reign of terror that has been unleashed in the world today and the blood of men women and children that has spilt today.

The power of people coming together for peace is immense, we just have to harness it. Let each indvidual who reads this us promise to light one candle at a time to bring light back into the world.

May you be showered with protection and love

Peace

Anita

'Great to learn about you in Mother Jones. My wife and I will be going to DC for the Christian Peace Witness for Iraq. My guess is that you've reached more people via your site: keep up the good work. A good quote from Dr. King:
"the ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it." Certainly the Iraq war proves that truth.
Robert @ Mon, 12 March 2007 01:21
I don't know where you guys are getting the information that torture is legal. If someone was to do that they would be punished under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice. I just don't understand how some folks make wild accusations and it is not verified. Not a very good way to disseminate information.

I am canaidan and i am tired of bush and his Terrorism. He is now saying that he wants 20 000 more troops to go there...wonder why???hmmm Iran is right there....You guys had the chance to get bush out of office but never did...now looked what happened. Afganastan, Iraq, where is the next target...They hung Saddam Hussein for war crimes...I think its time for Bush to pay for his war crimes. At least saddam kept terriost out of his country now its a breading groung for them...and what about bin ladden...bush can attack two countrys but cant find one man!!! come on its all in the plan Bush's plan to take over the middle east...Look out for china...there building up there millitery while the Us is stretch to its limit...GOD BLESS US ALL TRUST ME WERE GONNA NEED IT...

Congratulations on this site. It shows one thing for sure that there are still kids out there that have it together and will make great leaders in the future! I find you to be a loyal American citizen! It warms my heart to know that with people like you we will still be able to carry on when this is all said and done.
May I add that Let Freedom Ring will have a march for America in June. They invite all Americans to march with them. If you would like to know more about it please go to this site and join!
