My final for Digital Frame & Sequence

Next semester I'll be working with Audio only, which should be pretty awesome. :)

Holy smokes, very powerful! And your mom wrote the poem! Whoa!!

The film begs the question how does a child, sounding carefree and happy playing in the playground, become a forlorn statistic in a cell? Did you take all the still photos yourself? Because the composition is excellent, you turned architecture into sculptures of shapes and shadows.

Ava this is a very impressive effort. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent work. The whole thing was powerful the stills the sound effects and the poem.

Powerful stuff. Who's Spiros Papavasilliou (being of Greek descent myself, I couldn't help noticing a Greek name in the credits)?
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum – even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” - Noam Chomsky

In my first semester I took a class called Digital Frame & Sequence. In the class we take photos with a DSLR and record audio in order to make a video. For my final project I decided to take a poem and put visuals to it and had a friend from my scholar's program do the voice over reading. The photos were hard to take. I had to turn a plain black room into a prison cell with lighting. I basically built a prison wall with a window out of foam poster boards and then used a lighting kit to light through the window opening to make the lighting in the room seem like that of a prison cell. It was really cool working with the lighting kit and designing the lighting for the shoot. :)
