Over 4,000 American troops have been killed in the war, and it is estimated that at least 1,000,000 Iraqis have died as a result of the war. We've already had 5 years of a disastrous war. Do we really need four more?

A special thanks to Torquil Dewar for donating a computer. If it weren't for him this video wouldn't be up! Thanks so much!

My Computer Is Fried

There will be no new Peace Takes Courage updates for awhile. My computer was murdered yesterday evening by the lightning. Not only did the lightning take out my computer, but also two tv's and a cable box. I'm hoping that it was only the power part of the computer that is messed up - my tech guy(aka my bro) is coming tomorrow to look at it. Today I headed down to my granny and papa's to visit with them, so I'm using their computer now.

I'll be heading home next week and at that point it may be awhile until I'm online again - it depends on the damage and if I'll have to get a new computer or just replace a part. I can't afford a new computer right now so hopefully the whole computer isn't messed up. I'll probably be scarce over the next few weeks, but I'll try to check my email and the site when I can.

Sorry guys... this really really really really sucks.

Unfortunately the death toll in of the current wars has risen since this video was made, and hopefully by the next Memorial day that will no longer be happening. Regardless of how we feel about past and currents wars, we should all honor and respect anyone who signs up to defend our country. This video is my Memorial Day tribute to all of those brave men and women.

Be sure to watch for PeaceTakesCourage on This Brave Nation

I just got this email from Brave New Nation.. the documentary series I took part in. I'm really honored and excited to be in such an awesome series with so many inspiring people! Check it out below:

Dear Fellow Progressives,

Who are your heroes?

Van Jones on green jobs? Pete Seeger’s 70 years of activism? 17-year old Ava Lowery who has been protesting the Iraq war since the age of 14? Brave New Foundation and The Nation magazine have teamed together to produce This Brave Nation, a documentary series in 5 parts that celebrates these remarkable progressives and inspires a new generation. Now, we want you to nominate your heroes.

This Brave Nation is what happens when the oldest magazine in America teams up with the country's most revolutionary media pioneer. You will see Tom Hayden, Dolores Huerta, Carl Pope, Bonnie Raitt, and Pete Seeger in one-on-one conversations with rising stars like Majora Carter, Van Jones, Naomi Klein, Ava Lowery, and Anthony Romero. Check out the first episode on June 1st at http://bravenation.com/?utm_source=peacetakes and then be sure to tune in each Sunday through mid-July to see the other episodes in the series.

The leaders featured in This Brave Nation are our heroes. Now, we want to know who your young heroes are! The Nation and Brave New Foundation are ALSO creating the Brave Nation Award - presented to the country's most inspiring young local hero from a pool of candidates nominated through an online contest and selected by the ten featured heroes themselves. Who do you know who is making a change at the local level? Take a minute to think about it. Do you know a young person who speaks for those who cannot? Is there someone working to make your community a cleaner space in which to live? Are you actively working to make this world a more just place? The Brave Nation Award will recognize one of these exceptional individuals.

We want to be inspired by YOU. Go to http://bravenation.com/?utm_source=peacetakes and nominate one of your heroes.

This series will be available free-of-charge over the internet, but there will be DVDs available. For a $15 donation, we will give you 2 copies of the series, $30 for 5 or $50 for ten. Keep one for yourself and donate the other copies to local schools, libraries and young people in your life. To donate and receive a DVD, go to:

http://bravenation.com/?utm_source=peacetakes

Join with us, in This Brave Nation!

New Video: Footsteps

Bush. Over 5 years ago, his footsteps have lead us into a war based on lies. Today we are still following the same footsteps, and our country is still headed in the wrong direction. John McCain wants to follow those footsteps left behind by Bush. Do you?

Also, just a heads up. This will be the last video I post for awhile(other than a memorial day video which is already complete) due to computer problems. My computer is near the end of its days, and as a result it is extremely hard for me to edit videos right now. I've tried my extra programs as well, but all video editing programs are crashing on me. If you want to help out and get PeaceTakesCourage videos coming out again soon, please head to http://www.peacetakescourage.com/page-store.htm and consider buying one or more of the PeaceTakesCourage I.D. tags(10 bucks each). Thanks!

As someone who has military family members who have been in past wars, and the current wars, I felt it was important to hear directly from a veteran of the Iraq war. This is how the Iraq war has affected one soldier.
